Description
A red stola in the form of a rectangular ribbon; at both ends are sewn trapezoid-shaped pieces, each bearing a four-armed cross at its center, trimmed with gold-toned galloon. The galloon bears a linear-geometric ornament. The reverse is of burgundy silk fabric. Between the two layers of fabric is a layer of purple velvet ribbon, with a four-armed cross of galloon sewn onto it.
Note: the stola is a component of the liturgical vestments of Catholic (and Lutheran) clergy. It is a silk ribbon 5–10 cm wide and about 2 meters long, with crosses sewn at the ends and at the center. It is worn over the alb, under the dalmatic or chasuble. Its color varies according to the season of the church year.
