Description

A pectoral cross, four-armed, made of brown-toned metal, with trilobed ends. On the front is an eight-pointed cross, upon which rests a crown of thorns. Above the cross, on an unfurled scroll, are the letters "INRI" ("Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews"); to the left and right of the side arms, the letters "IC XC" ("Jesus Christ"). Below the cross are a scroll and a sash. The ends of the cross are decorated with three dots set within a circle. On the reverse, at the top, two branches are crossed, beneath which is the Church Slavonic inscription: "We worship Thy Cross, O Master."

The cross was made in the late 19th to early 20th century.

The cross was found in the town of Krasnohrad, Kharkiv region. It was donated to the museum by Kostiantyn Volodymyrovych Horoshko of Kharkiv in 2004.
