Description
The icon shows a half-length, frontal image of Jesus Christ, the "flesh" areas rendered in oil painting; he blesses with his right hand and holds an open Gospel in his left. Everything except the flesh areas has a gilded covering worked in relief. The cruciform halo is decorated with a geometric ornament, and the icon's frame with floral patterns. On the pages of the open Gospel, in three lines, is the Church Slavonic inscription: "Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden." Around the image of Christ, along the edge of the icon, is a shaped frame whose field bears a floral ornament. At the bottom center of the frame is the inscription: "Christ Pantocrator."
The icon was made by a local artel workshop in the early 20th century.
It was donated to the museum in 1974 by L. V. Kramarenko of Kharkiv.
