Description

A square pelena, made of cherry-colored velvet. The outer perimeter is trimmed with gold-toned galloon bearing a floral pattern. The inner field is decorated with embroidery in gold metal thread and gold sequin work, with a text embroidered along the edges. At the center of the pelena is an appliqué in the form of a four-armed equal-armed cross within dense radiance; around its perimeter is the embroidered text: "Remember me, O Lord, when Thou comest into Thy kingdom"; along the edges is a winding shoot with palmettes set into its recesses.

The pelena is lined with crimson silk fabric.

The object entered the museum's holdings in 1956.
