Description
The object is a long, narrow black ribbon. Along the top and bottom edges is a border in the form of a row of short vertical rib-like marks, framing the central field. The inscriptions, ornament, and imagery are executed in a contrasting ochre-yellow color.
The central part of the composition is occupied by two round medallions with bust-length images of Holy Princess Olga, captioned "ST. PRINCESS OLGA," and Holy Prince Vladimir, captioned "ST. PRINCE VLADIMIR." Between the medallions is an eight-pointed (Orthodox) cross with floral framing. Along the edges of the ribbon is a jubilee cartouche depicting a church with a ribbon and the inscriptions "1000 YEARS," "OF THE BAPTISM OF RUS'," "988," and "1988." Along the whole field runs a continuous prayer text in Church Slavonic, including the opening of Psalm 90 ("He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High...") and the Prayer to the Precious Cross ("Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered...").
