Description
A fragment of a sticharion, made of bleached homespun linen, in the form of a long, wide band. The full width is occupied by a complex ornamental composition, embroidered with green silk and twisted silver metal thread. The ornament is a stylized floral motif, made up of a many-petaled flower-rosette, from which winding branches spread with lilies, bellflowers, leaves, and buds. The ornamental band is enclosed on three sides by a chain-like border with rhythmically placed buds and scrollwork. The edges of the fragment are overcast with green silk thread.
The object entered the museum from the pre-war collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda.
During the occupation of Kharkiv in the Second World War (1941–1943), the object remained in the occupied city.
