Description
A fragment of a sticharion, made of bleached homespun linen. It takes the form of a wide band, decorated with a floral ornamental composition, embroidered in silk and silver metal thread. At the center of the composition is a winding shoot with dense, many-petaled flowers in gray, beige, terracotta, and light-blue tones, with elements embroidered in twisted metal thread and spangle.
The central composition is bordered above and below by chain-like borders with palmettes and pomegranate fruits. The lower edge of the fragment is overcast with beige thread; along the upper edge is the remnant of a "horodky" joining seam.
The object belonged to the collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda; during the occupation of Kharkiv in the Second World War (1941–1943), it remained in the museum.
