Description

A fragment of a sticharion, made of bleached homespun linen, in the form of a long band, sewn from two pieces. The full width is occupied by a complex ornamental composition embroidered in red cotton thread. The ornament is a stylized floral motif. At the center of the composition is a chain of filled and openwork four-petaled flowers, above and below which are profiled flowers and palmettes with volutes. The chain is bordered above and below by a longitudinal "retiaz" band with rhythmically repeated stylized floral sprigs with leaves and blossoms. The edges of the fragment are overcast with red cotton thread.

The object entered the museum from the pre-war collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda.

During the occupation of Kharkiv in the Second World War (1941–1943), the object remained in the occupied city.
