The Book of Hours was acquired by the museum from Volodymyr Stepanovych Cherviakov of Kharkiv in 1979.

Note: the Book of Hours (Horologion) is a liturgical book containing Orthodox prayers and church chants for the daily church services.

This educational Book of Hours is a so-called "small" Horologion, which was specially published for the purpose of teaching reading.
