Description

Handmade lace, woven from twisted silver metal threads and metal spangle. The ornament is geometric and stylized floral, in the form of a wave-like band, its lower recesses finished with scallops and its upper portion filled with scattered leaves across an openwork field. Along the top edge is a narrow border.

The use of spangle creates a radiant accent against the matte background.

Monastery-made lace, produced in the second half of the 18th century.

Belonged to the pre-war collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda. Remained in the museum during the occupation of Kharkiv during the Second World War (1941–1943).
