Description

Handmade lace, woven from twisted silver metal threads and metal spangle. The ornament is geometric and wave-like; the lace is finished along its contour with various types of scallops.

The use of twisted thread together with spangle creates a texture of mirrored and matte surfaces.

Monastery-made lace, produced in the second half of the 18th century.

Belonged to the pre-war collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda. Remained in the museum during the occupation of Kharkiv during the Second World War (1941–1943).
