Description
A combined pelena: at the center is brocade, woven on a silver ground with a golden floral pattern and colored flowers with leaves; around the periphery is plain silver-toned brocade. At the center of the pelena is a straight, four-armed cross, worked in golden galloon (braid trim).
The reverse of the pelena is lined with light-colored cotton fabric.
Note: "pelena" is a general term for a group of ornamental textiles used in church practice. This particular pelena was used as an underlay beneath liturgical objects.
