Description

Has an elongated rectangular form. The front is of white silk fabric with a milky tint. At the center is an appliqué in the form of a four-armed cross with rays, embroidered in silver metal thread. On either side of the cross are depictions of two stylized wreaths of dog-rose branches with leaves and flowers, executed in painted-on-fabric technique. The perimeter is trimmed with a metal fringe of silver thread.

The reverse is lined with light-colored silk fabric.

The object entered the museum's holdings in 1956.

Note: the "aer" was used in Orthodox worship to cover the sacred vessels (the diskos and the chalice) during the Liturgy.
