Description

Made of white woolen fabric, in the form of an elongated rectangle. The ends are decorated with woven black bands; along the edges are tassels, tied in a specific manner. Along one of the longer edges of the tallit is sewn a strip of wide, gold-toned galloon with a floral ornament.

Note: the tallit (or tallis) is a traditional prayer garment in Judaism, a rectangular covering of white wool, cotton, or silk with black, dark-blue, or light-blue stripes. The main elements of the tallit: the tzitzit — special tassels of thread tied at the four corners of the covering, recalling the commandments of the Almighty; and the atarah — an embroidered ribbon or band of fabric along the top edge (at the neck), often decorated with silver thread, marking the outer, upper side of the garment.
