Description

The cover has an elongated rectangular form. The front is of lilac-colored velvet, decorated with embroidery in twisted gold metal thread, with the addition of gold sequin embroidery. At the center of the field is a shaped four-armed cross in radiance, with small six-petaled star-flowers scattered around the periphery. The perimeter of the cover is decorated with a band of mesh-like metal lace, with a sewn-on fringe trim of metal thread.

The object entered the museum's holdings in 1954.

Note: the "aer" was used in Orthodox worship to cover the sacred vessels (the diskos and the chalice) during the Liturgy.
