Description

Light silk fabric, richly embroidered with a floral pattern (stylized tulips, peonies, and winding stems). At the center is an equal-armed cross, embroidered in silver thread with colored accents. The reverse is lined with block-printed fabric on a red ground with a small floral ornament. A pink silk ribbon is sewn along the edges.

The object entered the museum's holdings in 1954.

Note: the "aer" was used in Orthodox worship to cover the sacred vessels (the diskos and the chalice) during the Liturgy.
