In the upper corners of the crossbar are images of the sun and moon, beneath which are the inscriptions "SUN" and "MOON." Around the crossbar is the inscription: "WE WORSHIP THY CROSS, O MASTER... At the bottom of the cross is a depiction of the head of Adam, with the letters "H" and "A" on either side. To the left of the Crucifixion are images of the Mother of God and Saint Mary; above them the inscription "SAINT MARY [MOTHER OF GOD]"; to the right are images of John the Theologian and the Centurion Longinus, above them the inscription "SAINT JOHN, BISHOP LONGINUS."
The cross was acquired by the museum in 1996 from Ira Aivazivna Mailian.
