Historical and Statistical Description of the Kharkiv Diocese. Department II

Printed in 1857. The edition contains Section II (Kharkiv and Valky districts) of the "Historical and Statistical Description of the Kharkiv Diocese." Printed in a single color. The text on each page is divided into two columns, each with numeric pagination. The cover is of stiff, light-brown paper. At the center of the front cover is a pasted rectangular label reading: "Main Library of the Katerynoslav Real School." The flyleaf is of beige-toned leather. At the end of the edition is the table of contents.

The book entered the museum's holdings in 1954.

Note: the "Historical and Statistical Description of the Kharkiv Diocese" is a book by the Ukrainian church historian, public figure, and source scholar D. H. Humilevsky (Archbishop Filaret). The book examines both the history of Christianity in Sloboda Ukraine and the history of the Sloboda Ukraine region generally. At the time of the book's publication, the author was Bishop of Kharkiv and Okhtyrka, and so was able to address the founding history of many settlements of the Kharkiv Governorate of the time.
