Description
The central leaf of a folding triptych icon, of the Guslitsy type, square in form, made of yellow metal. At the four corners are ring-shaped hinges for attachment. At the top is a rectangular header with a loop on its reverse; the loop has a hole for hanging. Within an ornamental frame, against a mesh background, is a knee-length, frontal image of Saint Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, seated; on her head is a veil, and around her head a halo. In her left hand the saint holds an unfurled scroll; her right hand, holding an eight-pointed cross, is raised upward. At the top of the icon is the Church Slavonic inscription: "Saint...Paraskeva Pyatnitsa." The casting is light. The relief of the image is painterly in character.
The icon belonged to the pre-war collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda.
