Description
The icon is made of yellow metal, rectangular in form. At the center is a half-length image, in a three-quarter turn to the right, of the Mother of God; in her left hand she holds an unfurled scroll, and with her right she points to it. She wears a bordered tunic and a maphorion with the star of the Ever-Virgin; around her head is a round halo with a dotted ornament, flanked by the inscription: "Mother of God." Her figure is surrounded by a stylized floral ornament. Around the perimeter of the icon is a frame with a floral-geometric interlace. On the reverse is an oval medallion depicting an eight-pointed cross with the instruments of the Passion — a spear and a reed — against a backdrop of city buildings. In the corners are the symbols of the four Evangelists. Around the perimeter of the icon is a frame with a diamond-mesh ornament.
