Description
The icon is a folding triptych made of yellow metal, with rectangular leaves. The upper part of each leaf is in the form of a church dome. The leaves are joined by convex round hinges. At the center is an image of the Mother of God. The Mother of God, "Joy of All Who Sorrow," is shown full-length with arms outstretched. She is surrounded on both sides by the sick, the crippled, and those afflicted at heart. To the left and right of the Mother of God's halo are inscriptions from a prayer to the Theotokos. On the leaves are images of the Twelve Great Feasts: on the left, "The Entry into Jerusalem" and "The Presentation of the Lord"; on the right, "The Descent into Hell" and "The Ascension"; on the central leaf's header, "God the Father, Lord of Sabaoth." In the headers of the side leaves, full-length, are the Archangel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary. The side leaves are decorated with frames of geometric ornament.
The folding icon belonged to the collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda.
