Description

The leaf is made of yellow metal, rectangular, with a shaped ("kiot-like") header at the top in the form of a church dome. At the corners of the leaf are convex, ring-shaped hinges for attachment. At the center of the composition is an image of Saint George the Victorious on horseback, striking the serpent with his spear. Around the saint's head is a halo; his hair is curly, and his himation billows behind him. The background of the icon is a mesh pattern, with a frame of geometric ornament around its perimeter. In the header of the icon is a half-length image of the Savior, flanked by the Church Slavonic inscription: "Jesus Christ."

The leaf from the folding icon was donated to the museum by Oleksandr Kofanov, a pupil of Secondary School No. 54 in Kharkiv, in 1967.
