Description
The artophorion was made of silver-toned metal with gold spraying.
The fragment consists of a convex upper part with a four-sided base, joined to a "dome-shaped" finial, ending in a ball with an oval medallion within a radiant glow. Around the medallion is a beaded border; the field of the glow has eight round openings for insets.
The decoration of the fragment is composed of a relief silver-toned floral ornament of shells and leaves, set off against a mirrored gold-toned background.
Note: the artophorion belonged to the pre-war (pre-1941) part of the collection of the H. S. Skovoroda Historical Museum; it was evacuated in 1941, and this fragment of the artophorion was returned to Kharkiv in November 1944.
