Description
The artophorion is made of metal, partly covered in a gold-toned finish. It is a fragmentary object, made up of pieces of various sizes. The surviving structure has a tiered, stepped form, built of rectangular elements that narrow toward the top.
The decoration is executed in high and low relief. The artophorion is ornamented in the Ukrainian Baroque style: lavish acanthus-rocaille scrollwork, cartouches, garlands, and rosettes of flowers and fruit. The decoration is complemented by relief cherub heads (putti) placed at the center of the border friezes, as well as a composition of two angels flanking a smooth oval reserve medallion.
