Note: a prayer book is a collection of Christian prayers, liturgical texts, and religious instructions used by the faithful for daily prayer and spiritual edification. It was usually issued in a convenient small or pocket format, easy to carry. It contains morning and evening prayers, rules for preparing for Holy Communion, penitential prayers, psalms, and prayers for particular life needs (for family, for soldiers, for health, or in times of trial).
