Description
The fragment is a component of a wedding crown, and together with the metal band base (M-94) forms the complete crown.
This object takes the form of two silver-toned metal arcs, joined in a cross shape at their point of intersection by a bolt and nut. The arcs are decorated with imitation gemstone insets (at the center) and a relief toothed ornament (along the edges). The joint of the arcs is decorated with a round fitting topped by a gold-toned ball finial.
The arcs, as part of the crown, were made in the early 20th century. The crown belonged to the collection of the pre-war Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda. During the Second World War it was evacuated and returned to Kharkiv in 1944.
