Description

The base of the candlestick is made of silver- and gold-toned metal, decorated with medallions and a floral ornament, with wavy edges and a donor's inscription. The lower tier alternates acanthus leaves, cherubim, shells, and a bouquet of fruit and leaves. Above it is a wavy band; the upper tier is decorated with rocaille cartouches bordered by acanthus leaves. Around the edge is the Church Slavonic inscription: "This candlestick was made at the expense of the Cossack Plastunivsky Samuil Komoiko, and through the effort of the priest Stefan Malyshevych, for the Church of St. Nicholas in Novokodatsk."

The object was made in 1773 and belonged to the pre-war collection of the Historical Museum. During the Second World War it was evacuated and returned to Kharkiv in November 1944.
