Description
The folding icon is a triptych, made of yellow metal, square in form. At the top of the central leaf, on either side, are loops for hanging. The leaves are joined by a hinged mount, with a low rim, a frame, and a shallow recessed "ark." On the central leaf is the icon "Deesis." At its center, Jesus Christ is shown enthroned, blessing with his right hand and holding an open Gospel in his left. To the left and right of Christ's cruciform halo is the Church Slavonic inscription: "Jesus Christ, Lord Pantocrator." To the right and left of Christ are the Virgin Mary and John the Baptist, holding unfurled scrolls in their hands. On the left leaf are shown selected saints: Metropolitan Pimen (Philip), Nicholas the Wonderworker, and John the Theologian; on the right leaf, the Guardian Angel and Saints Zosima and Sabbatius of Solovki. All the figures are shown full-length.
The folding icon belonged to the collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda.
