Description
At the center of the painting is a full-length image of Jesus Christ. His right hand is raised to chest level in a gesture of blessing, his left pointing to his own Heart. He wears a white chiton and a red himation, his long chestnut hair falling to his shoulders. On Christ's chest, over the chiton, his flaming Heart stands out, encircled by a crown of thorns and surmounted by a small cross in flame.
Legend: the icon "The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus" symbolizes God's boundless, sacrificial, and merciful love for humanity, and his readiness to forgive and receive every sinner. Before this icon, the faithful turn to Christ with prayers for peace and harmony in the family, healing and comfort, and protection from misfortune.
