Description

At the center of the painting, the Virgin Mary stands on a yellow crescent moon, shown in an ascending motion toward heaven. She wears a long white dress and is wrapped in a bright-blue cloak. Her hands are crossed in prayer on her chest, her head slightly raised, her gaze directed upward toward the divine light. The Mother of God is surrounded by a great number of angels and cherubim. Some support her at the base amid the clouds, while others hover at the sides and in the upper corners of the painting. The background of the painting is filled with a soft, golden-yellow light breaking through gentle heavenly clouds, symbolizing the divine presence.

Legend: the painting "Immaculate Conception" was copied from a work by the renowned Spanish painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1618–1682).
