Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum ТК-1604 Made of brocade with a yellow ground, woven with a grapevine-and-cluster pattern in silver metal thread. It has the form of a four-sided rectangular cloth. It is decorated with silver galloon bearing small yellow leaves; at the center is a diamond-shaped overlay in the form of a four-armed cross with radiance, made of gold metal thread. The nabedrennik is lined on the reverse with orange-toned cotton fabric. A striped ribbon in lilac and brown tones is sewn to the upper corners for wearing the nabedrennik over the shoulder. Note: the nabedrennik is part of the liturgical vestments of an Orthodox or Greek Catholic priest. It symbolizes the "spiritual sword" (from the Greek epigonation) — that is, the Word of God, with which the clergyman is armed to struggle against unbelief and impiety for truth and justice, and which signifies the Lord's victory over death. It is awarded to priests for zealous and long service. The yellow (or golden) nabedrennik is not tied to any particular feast.
