Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum ТК-1252 Made of golden brocade with a floral ornament (winding branches with lush leaves), woven with a multicolored silk-thread pattern of flowers and fruit. It has the form of a rectangular cloth. It is decorated with silver galloon (braid trim) bearing a cruciform ornament; along the lower edge is an added strip of pale-colored fabric that sets off the sewn-on silver fringe trim, with an applied four-pointed cross with radiance at the center, made of silver metal thread. The nabedrennik is lined on the reverse with yellow cotton fabric (repp). A ribbon is sewn to the upper corners for wearing the nabedrennik over the shoulder. The object entered the museum's collection in 1954. Note: the nabedrennik is a component of the liturgical vestments of an Orthodox or Greek Catholic priest. It symbolizes the "spiritual sword" (from the Greek epigonation) — that is, the Word of God, with which the clergyman is armed to struggle against unbelief and impiety for truth and justice, and which signifies the Lord's victory over death. It is awarded to priests for zealous and lengthy service.
