The icon has a shallow recessed "ark" within a rectangular frame with a narrow rim. The scene "The Descent of the Holy Spirit" is set within a tall temple with columns and an ornamented floor. At the center of the composition is Jesus Christ, seated on a throne. A dove — the Holy Spirit — descends toward him from above. Christ is surrounded by the twelve holy Apostles, who watch the miracle in wonder. At the top, around the perimeter of the frame, is the Church Slavonic inscription: "The Descent of the Holy Spirit." The icon is decorated with drops of glass-like enamel in white, green, light blue, and dark blue.
