Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum М-3826 An eight-pointed blessing cross; at the center is a depiction of the Crucifixion of Christ, above Christ's head the letters "IC XC," on either side of the head the letters "SO[N]...OF GOD," beneath his feet the letters "ML" and "RB." In the upper corners of the crossbar are images of the sun and moon, beneath which are the inscriptions "SUN" and "MOON." Around the crossbar is the inscription: "WE WORSHIP THY CROSS, O MASTER... AND GLORIFY THY HOLY RESURRECTION." At the top of the cross is a depiction of God the Father, Lord of Sabaoth, and angels. On the upper crossbar is the inscription "IMAGE NOT MADE BY HANDS," and beneath the angels the inscription "KING... OF GLORY." At the bottom of the cross is a depiction of the head of Adam, with the letters "H" and "A" on either side. To the left of the Crucifixion are images of the Mother of God and Saint Mary; above them the inscription "SAINT MARY [MOTHER OF GOD]"; to the right are images of John the Theologian and the Centurion Longinus, above them the inscription "SAINT JOHN, BISHOP LONGINUS." The reverse of the cross is decorated with a winding floral ornament of leaves, flowers, and berries. The cross was donated to the museum by N. O.
