Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum М-103 The lower part of the chalice is made of silver- and gold-toned metal. The foot is stepped, in two tiers, with a round base and shaped edges curved outward. The lower tier is gold-toned, decorated with a floral ornament. The upper tier is gold-toned, divided by vertical wave-like bands tapering toward the top, between which are cartouches bordered by acanthus leaves. The top of the upper tier is cylindrical, into which a metal rod is fitted for attaching the cup of the chalice. Around the edge is the Church Slavonic inscription: "This cup, diskos, star, and spoon were commissioned by the comrade of the Shkurensky kurin, Ihnat Fedorovych..." The chalice belonged to the pre-war collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda. During the Second World War it was evacuated and returned to Kharkiv in November 1944. Note: the chalice (potir) is the sacred liturgical cup used to consecrate wine and to celebrate the sacrament of Communion.
