Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum М-81 A metal fragment of a candelabrum (panikadylo), silver- and gold-toned; it takes the form of a two-sided shaped plate depicting Archangel Michael and Archangel Gabriel. Archangel Michael is shown full-length, frontally, with wings spread, standing barefoot on a cloud. Michael appears as a young man with wavy shoulder-length hair, dressed in a double shirt and chainmail, with a round golden halo of radiant rays around his head. On the other side is Archangel Gabriel, whose depiction repeats Michael's features and figure. Gabriel is likewise shown standing barefoot on a cloud, dressed in a double shirt decorated with flowers, girded with a belt and sash. The archangels held candle sockets in their hands (now lost). At the top of the fragment, at the tips of the wings, and at the bottom on the cloud, are three through-holes for mounting. The object belonged to the pre-war (pre-1941) part of the collection of the H. S.
