Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum М-70 The foot of the chalice is made of gray-toned metal, six-lobed, with a profiled stem and wavy edges curved outward. Between the edges and the lobes is a golden floral ornamental band. At the ends of three of the lobes are engraved palmettes; on the other three is the Church Slavonic inscription: "This cup and diskos and star were given by the servant of God Lavrentii Lenets Sukhotsky to the church of ... in the year 1739." On the facets of the stem is the inscription: "This cup was commissioned by the servant of God, priest Feodor Ilyin, of the Dormition Church..." The upper part of the stem is decorated with a golden floral band. The chalice was made in 1739. The object belonged to the pre-war (pre-1941) part of the collection of the Historical Museum. It was evacuated in 1941 and returned to Kharkiv in November 1944. Note: the chalice (potir) is the sacred liturgical cup used to consecrate wine and to celebrate the sacrament of Communion.
