Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum М-61 The lower part of the chalice is made of silver-toned metal, stepped, in two tiers, with a round base and edges curved outward. The lower tier is decorated with a garland of leaves and flowers. Between the lower and upper tiers is a "band." The upper tier is round in cross-section, tapering toward the top, where an overlay in the form of a multi-petaled flower is fitted. The chalice belonged to the pre-war collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda. During the Second World War it was evacuated and returned to Kharkiv in November 1944. Note: the chalice (potir) is the sacred liturgical cup used to consecrate wine and to celebrate the sacrament of Communion.
