Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum М-60 The foot of the chalice is made of silver-toned metal, stepped in form with a round base, decorated with a floral ornament, with a donor's inscription around the edge. The lower tier of the foot is decorated with a garland depicting cherubim, leaves, fruit, and flowers, above which is a "band" leading into a stem with a winding floral ornament and a rod (fragmentary) for attaching the cup. Around the edge is the Church Slavonic inscription: "In the year 1757, the Cossack Pavlo Kostiantynovych of the Korsun kurin commissioned this cup for the forgiveness of his sins, for the sloboda of [...], dedicated to the Holy Trinity." The foot of the chalice belonged to the pre-war collection of the Sloboda Ukraine Museum named after H. S. Skovoroda. During the Second World War it was evacuated and returned to Kharkiv in November 1944. Note: the chalice (potir) is the sacred liturgical cup used to consecrate wine and to celebrate the sacrament of Communion.
