At the center of the composition, against a mirrored background, is Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, flanked by the Holy Apostles Peter (left) and Paul (right). Saint Nicholas is shown full-length, frontally, in episcopal vestments — sakkos, mantle, omophorion, mitre; he blesses with his right hand and holds the Gospel in his left. Saint Peter is shown in right profile, wearing a chiton, both hands pressed to his chest, his feet bare. Saint Paul is shown in a three-quarter turn to the left, wearing a chiton, his feet bare, a sword in his right hand. The riza has cutouts for the "flesh" painting; everything else is engraved on the riza, with a frame of floral ornament around the perimeter. The halos are applied, with radiant glory, decorated around their contour with an openwork, toothed crown of stylized floral-geometric ornament. On the riza, above the figures of the saints, is a trilobed arch amid flowers; below are three inscriptions: "S. AP. PETR," "S. NICHOLAS THE WONDER[WORKER]," "S. AP. PAUL," decorated with floral scrollwork; on the sides are narrow borders of pearl ornament with flowers. The icon panel has one horizontal inset batten, is covered in light-brown velvet, and has a ring for hanging at the top. The icon's riza was made in 1869. The icon belonged to S. P.
