<lido:descriptiveNoteValue xml:lang="en">Printed between 1667 and 1673. Printed in two colors (black and red). The text is in Church Slavonic, with running heads at the top of the pages. Letter foliation appears in the lower right corner, with signatures at the bottom center of the pages. The book's decoration is complemented by headpieces and initials.
At the end of the book are church-calendar tables, including a "lunar table" with text set in two columns.
The Chasovnyk has a hard cover with wooden boards, covered in black cotton fabric; the edge of the text block is red.
The book was acquired by the museum from Anatolii Oleksiiovych Stepanov, a resident of the village of Vvedenka, Chuhuiv district, Kharkiv region, in 1978.
Note: the "Chasovnyk" (from the ancient Greek Hōrólogion) is a liturgical book containing Orthodox prayers and church chants for the daily church services, including the services known as the "canonical hours" — prayers read in church at set times (hence the book's name, "Chasovnyk," from "chas," meaning "hour").</lido:descriptiveNoteValue>
